Original, framed, abstract painting of historical Dublin Georgian Doors - Perfect engagement or wedding present for art lovers - Free tracked shipping
A framed, abstract painting that I painted after seeing a tweet by a painting and decorating company! (You can see the tweet in the photos). This painting is an abstract of a Georgian door in Dublin and the lives of the people who walked through it. I can also create a personalised version of this painting. It would make a great anniversary or wedding present. Scroll down to see full details about this painting below.
This painting is part of a series of framed, abstract historical Dublin Georgian doors art that I was inspired to paint after seeing a tweet by a painting and decorating company! (You can see the tweet in the photos). After seeing these tweets, I started thinking about all the Georgian doors in Dublin and the thousands of lives that have passed through the doors over so many years.
I was thinking about their lives and loves, joy and heartbreak, challenges and achievements. I wondered whether people chose their favourite colours when they painted these doors, whether the chosen colour was from some leftover paint, and whether there were ever any disagreements about what colours to use between husbands and wives!
As a result I started looking up streets of Dublin on Google Streetview to find doors I liked. Then I looked up the addresses in the Irish 1901 and 1911 census to get a snapshot of one family who had lived behind each of these doors and created these cheerful, colourful abstract paintings.
I’ve called this series “Layers of Lives”.
I can also paint personalised versions of this art with details of your own family and life. They would make a great anniversary present, Christmas gift or housewarming gift. Please send me a message for more details.
This painting is of the door of a house that was home to Henry and Mary and they had 8 children. At the time of the census, they had been married for 25 years. I painted little bits of information in different spots on this painting about the people who lived in this house, almost like graffiti or the little time capsule notes that people sometimes carve in the wood in the houses in which they are living.
This framed, modern abstract painting is on a stretched canvas and was painted using a palette knife and acrylic paint. It is not a print. The painting is varnished.
This unique, modern abstract wall art with such a large variety of colours would suit the color scheme in most rooms as there is bound to be colours in the painting that will complement and match the colours in any room! It would be a wonderful Anniversary present or Christmas art gift for art lovers!
The wooden frame, which has been hand-painted in white, is included in the price. It is ready to hang as hooks and string have been attached to the back of the frame.

I’m a self-taught artist who has been painting for many years. I love simple shapes and subjects, and generally use bright and bold colours. Almost all of my pieces are painted using palette knives.
