The Clay Conifer was born out of a need I identified years ago for handmade high quality, personalisable but affordable gifts for teachers. I ended up making my own gifts for my childrens teachers using air dry clay and the reception they got was quite special.

Teachers are so used to receiving b0xes of chocolates, bottles of wine and flowers and or cupcakes – none of which last longer than a few days. However, for the same price as these, why not gift them a beautiful handmade clay gift , that’s thoughtful and something they can display proudly for years to come.

There are three shapes to choose from and for an additional small fee there is an option to add ‘From (insert childs name) in a smaller font at the bottom of the piece you choose.
The process: I use rolled out air dry clay to ‘cut’ each shape, then using ink and a pre made OR individually loaded stamp, I print onto the damp clay. Then comes the bit where I have to be patient as these pieces can take 2- 4 days to thoroughly dry out. I will sand each piece twice, once to remove large imperfections and soften the edges and again to ‘clean ‘ up any ink bleeds and smoothen the overall appearance. I’lll then carefully apply paint to colour details.
Finally,I thread each piece with natural jute string and coloured wooden beads before packaging up for you.

Allow me to introduce myself. I’m a busy Mam of two living in the beautiful Hill of Down, Co Meath next to the Royal Canal Greenway. I’m a native of Edenderry, Offaly.
In my former career I had an undergraduate degree in Social studies and was studying for a degree in forensic psychology. Most of my career I spent managing a youth justice project supporting vulnerable teenagers.
However all of that changed when I took a career break to spend time with my young children. My outlook completely changed and my priorities did too. I have always been a creative soul and find pure joy in making with my own hands.
So with huge family support I established my own little business – The Clay Conifer and have never been happier.
