This is a beautiful handmade druzy necklace. The necklace is handmade with a druzy quartz pendant electroplated in gold or silver. The chain is sterling silver or gold filled. An extension chain is added for size adjustment.

Druzy is a gemstones with a natural surface texture much like fine sugar crystals. They formed on the Quartz by the phenomena of micro-crystalline facets millions of years ago. Because these are natural gemstones and the layer of crystal druzy is not man made, there is no chance of the layer of druzy crystals from falling or rubbing off.
What is Gold Filled?
The term “gold filled” means that a thick layer of gold is bonded to a base of other alloys such as rhodium, brass or sterling silver through heat and high pressure. The gold layer on gold filled is approximately 100 times thicker than gold plated. Gold filled items are regulated and the quantity of gold must be at least 1/20th by weight of the total product which is 5% the gold content and 95% other metals. Gold filled jewellery is an economical alternative to solid gold! It is safe for most people with sensitive skin and is hard wearing.
Sterling Silver is 92.5% pure silver with some base metal, usually copper, added for strength. As the purity of the silver decreases, the issue of tarnishing increases because other metals in the alloy may react over time with oxygen in the air. To help keep its shine, keep it in an airtight plastic bag when you are not wearing it. To clean it gently swipe it across with a polishing cloth.
